2022 Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism (Combat Antisemitism Movement)

SIGN THE ATHENS MAYORAL DECLARATION AGAINST ANTISEMITISM AND ADOPT THE SIX-POINT MUNICIPAL ACTION PLAN TO FIGHT JEW-HATRED

At the 2022 Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism in Athens, Greece,

municipal leaders from more than 50 cities and nearly two dozen countries across the globe gathered to share innovative ideals and best practices in pursuit of a common goal—to secure and nurture Jewish life in their communities and safeguard an inclusive democratic future for all humanity.

Joint Declaration

The summit produced a powerful joint resolution, which can be read in full here, underscoring the need to “be vigilant against all modern and classical iterations of Jew-hatred,” and cooperate in the following realms:

» EDUCATING the public, particularly future generations, about the origins and impacts of antisemitism, the Holocaust, and Jewish heritage.

» RAISING the awareness of local law enforcement of the challenges faced by minority Jewish populations, and providing these agencies with the resources needed to effectively protect Jewish lives and property.

» IDENTIFYING antisemitism wherever it appears, no matter the motive or ideology of its perpetrator.

» PROMOTING interfaith relations by fostering meaningful dialogue and exchanges between different communities in our cities, to nurture atmospheres of cross-religious solidarity and harmony.

ABOUT US

Founded in 2019, the Combat Antisemitism Movement is a global coalition engaging more than 1.5 million people and 500 organizations from a diverse array of religious, political, and cultural backgrounds in the common mission of fighting the world's oldest hatred.

Our unique platform creates fruitful partnerships, develops creative solutions, and leverages the collective power of our broad-based network to build a better future, free of bigotry, for the Jewish people and humanity as a whole.

OUR MISSION

CAM fights antisemitism wherever it occurs, across the ideological spectrum. We seek to educate people about antisemitism, monitor and report on its various contemporary manifestations, advocate for consistent benchmarks for policymakers and empower those affected by this prejudice to tell their personal stories. We highlight difference-makers and galvanize activism to forge a more constructive path for humanity.

OUR VISION

Our efforts are focused on promoting religious tolerance and opposing individuals, groups, and governments that engage in or otherwise support antisemitism. We take concrete action to nurture mutual understanding across traditional divides and ensure there is no safe place in modern society for Jew-haters. The CAM Pledge draws on the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism and its list of 11 specific behaviors used to discriminate against Jews.

OUR ACTIVITIES

CAM engages in a rich array of activities to advance our aims. Our programming works both bottom-up and top-down, combining the best of crowdsourced approaches with elite mobilization. Through our campaigns, creative contests, grassroots advocacy, legislative initiatives, and interfaith collaboration, we inspire new solutions to the world’s oldest hatred.

We have a proven track record of organizing major international events of geopolitical significance. The Balkans Forum Against Antisemitism, Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism, Central America Forum for Israel, Kyiv Jewish Forum, and Annual Global Summit have firmly established CAM as a leader in the fight against antisemitism.
